Arts & Culture

Cologne is privileged to have an outstanding art and cultural scene and is a real hotspot for newcomers and established artists alike. For culture enthusiasts, the number of events across the city leaves nothing to be desired: Cologne is home to over 40 museums and uncounted art galleries and studios offering classic and contemporary art, a vibrant urban art scene plus a series of art fairs. On the performance side, a major independent scene dominates the calendar, alongside more traditional offerings at Oper (opera), Schauspiel (theatre) and Philharmonie (classical concert hall). Cinema lovers appreciate the city’s many cinemas and film festivals. And Cologne’s music scene is nothing less than hyperactive, with more than a thousand musicians and bands vying for a spot at the city’s music venues. To top it all off, a multitude of readings and literature festivals take place year-round. This is where we introduce you to selected locations, events and creative people across Cologne.
